Infinity Blade Leaves App Store Comes To Fortnite

first_img Get Used to ‘Fortnite’s’ Powerful Mech SuitsSwatting Attack Targets Fortnite World Champion Stay on target Depending on how long you’ve been gaming, the first game that pops into your head when you think of developer Epic Games will be different. Maybe it’ll be legendary shooters like Unreal Tournament or Gears of War. If you’re real cool it’ll be Jazz Jackrabbit. And if you’re anyone else alive right now you’ll of course think of juggernaut battle royale game Fortnite. But if you ever really got into the mobile gaming scene before it was ruined by free-to-play mechanics, you might remember Epic’s Infinity Blade. Unfortunately, Infinity Blade might soon be nothing but memories as Epic has removed the game from the App Store while simultaneously teasing it in Fortnite. The Infinity Blade trilogy is bizarre to say the least. When it first dropped in 2010 it was a graphical showcase demonstrating the gorgeous, detailed, Gothic fantasy visuals Unreal Engine 3 could spit out on the iPhone. But it was also a smartly designed mobile game, asking players to simply yet strategically swipe with one thumb to slash enemies like a fighting game. And it had a ton of weird lore explaining how players didn’t restart, they just played as the descendant of their previous character in a kind of roguelike bloodline loop. The mixture was quite successful. But that was years ago. In a statement, Epic Games said they can no longer support Infinity Blade “at a level that meets our standards.” If you already had the game you’re good. You can even redownload it. But new players can’t purchase it and no one can make in-game purchases. If you were an Infinity Blade fan this is disappointing. We suspect developer Chair, who also made the similarly excellent Shadow Complex, has just been fully sucked into the Fortnite machine. However, Epic did say Infinity Blade will live on in some way. No, it’s not in the new Epic Game Store. Starting now the Infinity Blade is an item in, you guessed it, Fortnite. As part of its inexplicably ice-themed seventh season, Fortnite players can now explore a frigid castle at the Polar Peak region. Here they can find the mythical Infinity Blade itself, Fortnite’s first sword weapon. Between this and Thanos’s Infinity Gauntlet (which also might be coming back to Fortnite in time for Avengers: Endgame), Fortnite just loves endlessness. The player who gets the single sword loses all of their items and weapons but gains double health, regenerating health, health after each kill, faster movement speed, and a leaping strike as an alternate attack. Pretty good for a weapon from a dead video game!Update: Because the Infinity Blade was just so dang overpowered Epic has removed it from Fortnite for rebalancing. So just like that Infinity Blade disappears again. For more on Fortnite watch us get coached by a pro player and read more about the new Fortnite Creative mode.<span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”></span>last_img read more
