ELECTION POLL SHOWS LATE RISE IN SUPPORT FOR NON-PARTY CANDIDATES

first_imgA hugely-awaited poll of voters in the Letterkenny and Milford areas will show a rise in support for non-party candidates. The Tribune’s poll is hotly awaited by many. The poll, carried out by the Tirconaill Tribune newspaper, interviewed more than 500 people on Thursday and Friday last. There has been a huge interest in the poll which also shows that many are still undecided as to how they will vote when the poll was taken 14 days ahead of voting. The poll also suggests that FF and FG may lose a substantial base of their first preference vote.Adding to the profile of uncertainty is the expectation that the vast majority of undecided voters are intent on voting for non-party names. There are six outgoing Cllrs. contesting the new ten seat electoral area and with at least four new names about to become members of the Council, there is huge interest in their possible identity. It is believed that Fianna Fail is in pole position to hold at least two of their current seats with Fine Gael battling to contain their losses and Sinn Fein is not exactly setting the place alight with its current performance. The final details of the poll will be verified tonight by a representative of the accountancy firm of Stewart and MacLochlainn. In the past 24 hours the Tribune has received a record number of queries about the outcome of the poll: but the details will not be revealed ahead of the paper’s publication later in the week. ELECTION POLL SHOWS LATE RISE IN SUPPORT FOR NON-PARTY CANDIDATES was last modified: May 13th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:ElectionspollTirconaill Tribunelast_img read more
