Canada’s Denny Morrison has captured his second medal at the world single disatances speedskating championships in Richmond, B.C. The native of Fort St. John, B.C., won a silver in the men’s 1,000 metres, finishing with a time of one minute nine seconds. American Trevor Marsicano took gold in 1:08.96 while teammate Shani Davis was third in 1:09.02. Davis set a world record in the distance at last week’s World Cup in Salt Lake with a time of 1:06.42. The same three skaters were on the podium following the 1,500 metres Thursday with Davis taking gold, Marsicano silver and Morrison bronze. The 1,000 was Morrison’s most productive event this season, with six World Cup medals, two of them gold. – Advertisement -The competition is being held at the 2010 Olympic venue.
