(Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)Notre Dame’s running back depth has taken a hit ahead of this evening’s game against Stanford, according to a new report.The Fighting Irish’s co-starting running back will not be able to play in the top 10 showdown against the Cardinal at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind.Irish Illustrated first reported the news.From the report:Irish Illustrated has learned that Notre Dame red-shirt freshman running back Jafar Armstrong will miss Saturday night’s home tilt with No. 7 Stanford with a left knee infection.Irish Illustrated was first informed of Armstrong’s status for the Stanford game Friday afternoon and confirmed it with multiple sources Friday night.Armstrong trails only kicker Justin Yoon for the team lead in points (30) and set a personal-high with 98 yards rushing in last week’s victory at Wake Forest. He made his Notre Dame debut in the season-opener against Michigan on Sept. 1 by scoring a pair of touchdowns.Notre Dame and Stanford are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T.The game will be on NBC.
